podcast thumbnail

As a music channel owner, you know that having great thumbnails is essential for attracting viewers and keeping them engaged. After all, your thumbnail is the first thing people see when they come to your channel, and it can be the difference between someone clicking on your video or moving on to the next one.

So how do you create perfect thumbnails for your music channel? Here are some tips:

Include Familiar Faces or Objects

People are naturally drawn to faces. Including a face in your thumbnail is a great way to get someone to click. Even better if it’s your face to establish brand consistency.

Included familiar objects so that people have more of a connection to what’s being shown. If the object is obscure, people might not know what it is and not be as interested.

Keep the Interesting Stuff in Focus

Your main focus should be crisp and hi-res. The viewer should be able to clearly distinguish what is going on in your thumbnail at a glance. Use a foreground and midground to tell the story of the key focal point.

Don’t Have Distracting Backgrounds

Your eye shouldn’t be drawn to the background. Add a slight blur to tone down a busy pattern or darken the image. If possible, choose a solid color for the background so that it isn’t distracting.

Use Text Sparingly

People are able to easily focus on images first and then will see words. Your thumbnail should be mostly the image, with only a few words of text.

The text should be easy to read, and it should be relevant to the video. For example, you might include the title of the song or the name of the artist.

Don’t Waste Space

Every pixel of your thumbnail needs to be utilized. Make objects bigger so that they stand out more.

There’s only so much room on the small thumbnail and every part needs to get the viewer invested.

Maintain Brand Consistency

As mentioned before, using your face is a great way to create brand identity. People will start to recognize your face as a credible source and you will establish trust. They will start to immediately distinguish your videos.

If you have brand colors use them. Users will also be able to easily identify colors with your brand.

Your thumbnail should have a color scheme that is pleasing to the eye. This doesn’t mean that it has to be all one color, but the colors should work well together.

Make Your Thumbnail Unique

Your thumbnail should be something that makes people want to click on your video. This means it should be eye-catching and unique. A boring, generic thumbnail is not going to cut it.

Include some mystery to your image that will leave them in suspense. They will have no choice but to click through.

Use a Call-to-Action

Your thumbnail should include a call to action, such as “Watch Now” or “Click Here.” This tells viewers what they need to do, and it can help increase click-through rates.

Test Different Thumbnails

The only way to know for sure what works and what doesn’t is to test different options. Try different images, different colors, different text, and different call-to-actions. Then, see which ones perform the best.

Once you’ve found a winning thumbnail, you can then use it for your video.

Creating perfect thumbnails for your music channel doesn’t have to be difficult. Just follow these tips and you’ll be on your way to success.
